Date Night with Daddy

So the other day Shannon informs me that I need to do a post. She tells me that Aaron posts so why can't you. Thanks Aaron. I should be writing a paper for class and studying for the mid-term but I thought I should post instead. Since I am now offically taking classes toward my MBA (the others were pre-req.), I have not been around a lot and it probably will be like that for the next two years. Just going to class two nights a week for 3-1/2 hours in the summer and 2-1/2 during the fall/spring makes for long days without seeing the family. Because I have started actual MBA classes, they like to put people into groups and do group projects which means more time away (another 2-4 days each week). When I do have free time it is usually spent doing homework. On top of all this, work is going better but busier. On Friday I got put in charge of doing more work at the steel mill. This is will be fun because I get to go inside where they make the steel. There is many other places I can think of being when I am standing next to the oven and the door opens an out comes a red hot steel beam. The next few weeks will be busy with this new assignment but I will enjoy it. That means I have to leave earlier for work though. Also our branch was the best in the region for June and most likely will be for July and August, but after the summer we see it going back down, but we are hopefull that it will stay good.

Now to get to my post. The other day Maddie kept asking Shannon "when daddy home?" "Daddy home in few mintues?" "Daddy come to the zoo with us?" As you can see she misses her daddy. When I came home Friday night, I knew that she was good all day, so I told her we could go out for come ice cream. We could go on a date. Then came the words that melted my heart even more (If you don't know already-if Mommy says no she goes to daddy...and he will do anything) "I go on date with daddy". She had on a big smile and I looked at Shannon and she was about to cry. So after getting cleaned up from dinner, we proceed for on our date. Maddie had to inform Shannon and Patrick that they could not come.

We went out for ice cream, but before we did that we went to Petco to look at the animals. Then we went to coldstone and she got to pick out the ice cream - Blue (cotton candy). Then she wanted sprinkles on it. We had a great time. I think one of the best parts was when we were leaving Cold Stone she had to hold onto her bow because it was going to blow away (it was still in her hair). Then we came home and Shannon came outside and we watched for airplanes. We never did seen any but Maddie had a great time. I think over the next 2 years their will be a lot more daddy/daughter date nights. There are pictures but they are still on the camera.

1. My kids post also, so put Mads and Patch in charge of a few!

b. Are the Steel Mills like we think from watching the Simpsons?

Such a great date time with the kiddos! I think the dates were our saving grace for Ben and the kids to stay close while he was so busy. Definetly the best thing! So glad you all had a great time!
